What a shame the commissioners are considering closing this park. The economy is having a devastating effect on the county budget. I would hope the commissioners would see beyond the current budget year and realize the 300-500 year old live oaks and every thing else in this park are worth preserving.

Hello all,

I am a recreation leader at Erna Nixon Park, located off of Evans Road just north of Hibiscus. This is an incredible place and have the pleasure of being able to enjoy it every day. I encourage everyone with great enthusiasm to visit the park and see for yourself. The half mile boardwalk showcases 3 separate ecosystems, highlighted by 300-500 year old live oaks as well as other very interesting flora. Otherwise, wildlife is present throughout the park as well as in the nature center. In addition, the park facilitates educational programs and various activities each month such as "Music in the Park". So please, bring your lunch, enjoy some music, and join us for one of our free guided tours every Saturday & Sunday. See ya soon.
